McDonald

Recently, I decided to keep a profile for every William McDonald I come across – related or not. It’s a small project I’ll keep adding to over the coming years that will hopefully help me and other researchers in their quest for information on William McDonald.

You can learn why at the blog post One Name Study – William McDonald.

If you have a William McDonald/MacDonald you want to add to the list, send me the basic information. I don’t need a lot. In fact, I’d like to keep this as bare-bones as possible. As a reference, their obituary will do. If not available, another record can be used. Or just send the information. If you wish, you can include your name and email address on the Contact line so others can reach you.

  6. Hello, just to say that your 0011 (Name: William Kenneth ‘Bill’ MacDonald (Veteran WWII) and your 0021 (Name: William K. MacDonald) are in fact the same person.

  7. I am trying to find information on William MacDonald born 1899 died 1942 in Point Pleasant,NJ . William married my great Aunt, Sarah Morris MacDonald ,she was born 1903 Died 1938. Her mother was Flora Osborn Morris ,father George Morris.

  8. My father is William Lawrence MacDonald, born April 15, 1947 in Red Rock, Ontario, son of Roderick MacDonald and Claudina Marshall. Roderick was born in New Waterford, Cape Breton but mostly lived on the mainland in Antigonish before moving to Ontario as an adult. His parents were Alexander MacDonald, son of Roderick and Mary MacDonald, and Annie Jane MacKay, daughter of Alexander McKay and Bessie Henderson. Alexander and Roderick and Mary lived in the Keppoch/St. Joseph’s parish area of Antigonish. Let me know if you’d like any more information on my William (Bill)!

  9. Diane: I would like to have a copy of the William Mac Donald file and if you are throwing anything away for Frost, OR BROWN history. thanks so much Heather C.

  10. I know of a William McDonald born around 1740 in Lanarkshire in Scotland. He was married to Janet Aitchison (1750–1841) and fathered 7+ children whom included
    James (1768-1786)
    John (1770-)
    Thomas (1773-1860)
    Betty (1776-)
    James (1786-1789)
    Jean (1786-)
    James (1789-)

There seems to be confusion around who his parents were: John McDonald and Bethia Neilson vs. Angus and Anna Chrystie/Penelope Macneil. I hope someone can help me to clear this up?

  11. I am looking for my great grand father who was from Scotland, He worked for the Great West North Company, I think, or the Hudsons Bay Company. But, i am pretty sure it is the Great Nrth West…, According to what I am toldand, he worked in Mimminika Lake , ON, Fort Hope Indian Band, which is part of the Albany River drainage system, south of Hudson Bay, in Canada. I would like to visit or at least tell my children about where they come from… the appreciate your site and hope you have the place and the answers I a looking for… Most Best Regards… Murray L. Waboose

    • Murray, thank you for visiting my site. I don’t have the answers to your question. I have information on individuals related to me and they all settled in Atlantic Canada.

Perhaps a visitor to my site will know. To help them identify this person, can you provide the basic information: the name of your great-grandfather, when he was born, when he died, where he died, his wife’s name, any other names such as siblings’ or his children’s.

It’s okay if you don’t have all this information, but without his name, no one will be able to help. Provide the basic information you have and perhaps someone will be able to help.
