The Passing of a Great Genealogist

Late last evening, I learned the news that Terry Punch had passed away. Punch was born in 1937 at Halifax, NS. In Eastern Canada, his was the first name many genealogists learned as they entered the hobby. He will be dearly missed in the community, yet his legacy will live on in the many people he helped, the books and columns he wrote, papers he researched and the interviews he gave.

On the CBC News website is the last interview with Maritime Noon host Norma Lee MacLeod. My next genealogy column will be dedicated to him.

    • He certainly was a driving force in the genealogy movement in the province. I’m sure he introduced many people to the hobby, and he also supported many of the genealogical societies and organisations.
