Tracing Your Irish and Scots-Irish Ancestors Conference

Tracing Your Irish and Scots-Irish Ancestors

One-day Conference

March 22, 2016

Hosted by the Genealogical Association of Nova Scotia

As part of the 2016 Ulster Historical Foundation (UHF) North America Lecture Tour, the Genealogical Association of Nova Scotia (GANS) will be hosting a one-day conference on Tracing your Irish and Scots-Irish Ancestors.  This conference will be one of only two stops in Canada by the Foundation in 2016.

The Ulster Historical Foundation is an educational non-profit organization and one of the principal genealogical research agencies in Ireland. UHF Executive Director, Fintan Mullan, and UHF Research Officer, Gillian Hunt, will be the conference program presenters.

The full program is available on the GANS website. Topics for the day include: using Irish Land Records, understanding Irish townlands and strategies for researching emigrant Irish and Scots-Irish ancestors. At the end of the day, there will be a session where attendees can ask the UHF speakers specific questions. Various publications by UHF and GANS will be available for purchase.

Conference fee: $50.00 for GANS members and $65.00 for non-members (includes 2 refreshment breaks and lunch)

For those traveling a distance to the conference, there is accommodation available at the Debert Hospitality Centre for a very reasonable $55.00 per night.

The conference registration form and the complete schedule is available on the GANS website. We anticipate that this will be a popular event, so plan to register early to ensure your place.
