Family History Society of Newfoundland and Labrador Event

The following announcement arrived in my inbox from the Newfoundland Roots Genealogy Mailing List:

The Family History Society of Newfoundland and Labrador (FHSNL: www.fhsnl.ca) will be having its next meeting and lecture on Tuesday September 24th at 7:30 pm.

Guest speaker Paul Ludlow will give a presentation on the topic “Ludlow Family History”.

The lecture will take place at the Marine Institute’s Hampton Hall (located on Ridge Road in St. John’s). The meeting is open to the public, and there is no charge for admission.

Also: FHSNL received notification two weeks ago that it is now a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency.

  1. Ludlow family: John Ludlow Sr. (1795-1875 ) married Patience Skinner (1829-1904) at Fogo on Oct.25, 1849. They resided in Tilt Cove. They had several children re: John William Ludlow May 25, 1852. John Jr. married Sarah Louisa Woodford in 1876. When the mines closed they relocated to Halifax, NS. One of their daughters, Mary Elizabeth married James Alexander Hynes. They had a son, Reginald Frederick Hayward . I am Reginald’s son, Peter. We think John Sr.’s father was Thomas Ludlow and Rebecca Brown and have traced a line back to Hill Deverell, re: the de Ludlowe
