Title: Celebrating Canadian History
Snippet: As Canadians we have a reputation for not celebrating our history enough. We’re proud of it, but we acknowledge it quietly. Unfortunately other countries are not as quiet about their past deeds, so many times we learn more about them through their national events, movies, television shows, documentaries and books than our own wonderful accomplishments. A yearly celebration introduced by James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage, is hoping to change this.
For seven full days, the government will make an extra effort to promote and share our history. Canada History Week will launch for the first time on July 1st. Canadians are encouraged to visit museums and historical sites and take part in events that celebrate our country and its rich history.
