Column: Has Cyndi’s List Been Duplicated?

Between today and Saturday, my genealogy column, Roots to the Past, is available in the following Atlantic Canada newspapers:

Tuesday: The Kings County Record (Sussex)

Wednesday: The Lunenburg County Progress Bulletin

Thursday: The Western Star (Corner Brook)

Saturday: The Citizen (Amherst)

Saturday: Times & Transcript (Moncton)

Title: Has Cyndi’s List Been Duplicated?

Snippet: Genealogists who use the Internet to help broaden their research soon discover Cyndi’s List. Once found, endless hours are spent searching the pages, looking for links to other websites that may hold pertinent information.

For many, Cyndi’s List has become the place to revisit each time a new source is sought. After all, it’s impossible to exhaust the almost 400,000 genealogy links provided. And like most individuals, new information surfaces, sending us back to the mega-link site to see what she has on the subject.

Cyndi Howells began Cyndi’s List in September 1995. Back then it was a simple one-page site with a few links. It quickly grew to six pages and…well, the rest is history. After more than a decade a half, the site is huge, providing links to everything from military to vital records, from personal websites to government databases.
