Column: Canadians are Inventive

Title: Canadians are Inventive

Snippet: The kids are back in school, and my son has already arrived home with his first homework assignment for Social Studies. He had to gather things that were exclusively Canadian or were invented by a Canadian.

After announcing his assignment to the family and receiving the usual round of inventions—hockey, telephone, zipper and kerosene—he went looking on the Internet. A few items found triggered my memory: goalie mask, basketball, Superman and Robertson screwdriver. Others were logical even though I hadn’t heard of them before: snowmobile, snow blower and foghorn
